The top female student at Moi Educational Centre in the 2023 KCPE exam has been awarded a Sh300,000 scholarship to support her secondary education.

Janice Chepkoech Langat emerged as the second-best student overall and top female student at Moi Educational Centre, Nairobi after scooping 421 marks.

Jeremy Rotich, who scored 424 marks, was the top student overall.

The scholarship was issued by the chairman of Intellimedia Networks Africa, Mr Alex Chesosi, who had promised to reward the candidate who would top Class 8E where his daughter was previously a student. Chepkoech topped in that class.

Overall, 23 candidates scored 400 marks and above. Another 95 scored between 375-399 marks.

The school’s results also show that 54 candidates scored between 350 and 374 marks. Some 38 candidates managed 300 and 349 marks, while only nine scored below 300 marks.

Mitambo Aiden Karani scored 419 marks while Mulinge Judith and Ronoh Lorraine each scored 413 marks to close the school’s top-five list.

Other top scorers in the school are Nyarango Natania Kerubo with 411 marks while Bhirange Nicaise and Mogire Kencarlos Ngari who each scored 409 marks.

Kiptoo Daniella Jebet, Griffin Kiprop, Bor Elsie Chepchumba and Kamau Raynold Kuria tied on 407 marks.

Speaking to The Standard after awarding the scholarship, Chesosi said he hopes to impart the virtue of philanthropy to his daughter.

“This is an initiative to give back to society, encouraging and motivating learners and teachers in the school where my daughter Joan Chesosi schooled the previous year,” Chesosi said.

Joan is currently a student at Brook House International School.

Chesosi said he was impressed by the tremendous work done by the teachers at the school who he noted had been a good example and mentors to his daughter and many students.
