Strathmore beat Black Mamba

Strathmore University men’s handball team defeated Black Mamba 23-22 as the Super Cup tournament took centre stage at the Nyayo National Stadium handball court yesterday.

With the win, Strathmore qualified to the semi-finals after topping Pool A.

Mamba’s Paul Ondara emerged the top scorer of the match with seven scores, with teammates Nicholas Okore and Martin Ngugi managing four each.

Strathmore’s top scorer, Rashad Ingwela, managed six points with teammate Ken Ndungu posting five against his name.

Commenting after the match, Strathmore coach Peter Mwathi said his charges faded in the second half but still managed to qualify for the semi-finals.

“It’s hasn’t been easy but we are now looking forward to the next match. Our aim is to win the title,” he said.

Mamba’s coach Martin Abunde said: “We are now going to prepare for the national league,” he said. [Rebecca Jebet]
