Nzoia Sugar MD arrested over graft claims

The anti-graft agency has confirmed the arrest of Nzoia Sugar Company managing director Godfrey Wanyonyi over corruption allegations.

Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) spokesperson Yassin Aila said the MD, along with other six senior managers at the company, will soon be arraigned in court to face charges of abuse of office.

Wanyonyi was arrested in Nairobi Thursday and taken to the EACC offices where he was questioned and then transferred to Bungoma where he is expected to appear in court together with six other senior managers on various charges.

“He and six other managers within the Finance department will be charged with various offences including abuse of office, fraudulent acquisition of property, forgery and violation of public finance regulations,” said Aila.
