DP Rigathi Gachagua and CSs need to stop talking too much and mixing up their metaphors

It is exactly two months since Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua uttered those famous words at Kasarani Stadium.

You may wonder what the words are, for the deputy president said so many things that some were even deemed inappropriate, but he was covered by his words that I call famous.

Between that time and now, he has said a lot of things that seem to contradict each other, and Kenyans have been pleading that he should stop living in the past.

But when it comes to people who love the sound of their own voices, the deputy president is in good company. The new Cabinet Secretaries have been talking their heads off as if they won a government tender to supply empty rhetoric.

From Health CS to Education, Trade, Transport to ICT and anyone in between, they just can't shut up even when they know that their statements are not backed by any facts and that Kenyans are not interested in meaningless talk. The Members of the National Assembly and Senators, more so the nominated ones, have also decided that the world must know they know little about their job.

It seems they are all following the famous words that were uttered by the deputy president two months ago. As a matter of fact, the deputy president has been leading by example.

In his speech at Kasarani on September 13, the DP said Kenyans were now free to say anything they want without any fear. These words were music to the ears of the media because they meant that government officials can be called out without fear.

That is why it came as a surprise when the same DP who uttered these words turned around and blamed the media after the CS for Education put all his limbs in his mouth about defunding universities yet there is a video of him saying what was reported.

Sir, you people are talking a lot that you cannot remember your previous statements. Remember, no silent person ever got misquoted.
