Mombasa Aquatics dominate NCSA swimming gala

[Jonah Onyango, Standard] Mombasa Aquatics emerged tops at the Nairobi County Swimming Association (NCSA) Inter-Clubs Invitational Swimming Championships held at Kiota School over the weekend. The Coastal swimmers were too good for their hosts Nairobi and other competitors as they won 116 medals cumulative to become the overall winners as the NCSA 2025-2026 began. They secured 47 gold, 34 silver and 35 bronze medals to grab the top spot while their closest challengers NextGen Multi Sport Academy accumulated 26 gold, 22 silver and 22 bronze. Little Fish Swim Club completed the top three spot with 23 gold, 16 silver and 10 bronze medals. Barack Laja of Hydrofit Swim Club was unstoppable in boys' Under-7 years, garnering 16 points to be ranked best in the category. Jabari Kemucie of Sailfish was second with 10 points, while Sulwe Muga of Little Fish and Biko Mugo of Synergy Swimming Academy finished third tied on four points. Mombasa Aquatics swimmers dominated the girls' Under-7 years challenge snatching the top three spots. Wafaa Khalifa led with 17 points, with Shazmeen Khalid finishing second with 11. Murada Faraj had six. Ethan Quilala of Little Fish and Mariana Machocho of Bandari Swim Club topped the boys and girls eight to nine years category. Quilala, who was also brilliant last season, picked up from where he had left outshining other swimmers to top with 40 points. Marx Mugo of Synergy garnered 20 points to finish second whereas Nagib Nagib of Mombasa Aquatics was third with eight. Machocho outshone her opponents securing 30 points with Mombasa Aquatics duo of Humaira Issa and Nisha Khalid finishing second and third with 25 and 18 points respectively. The girls' 10 to 11 years contest turned out to be a battle between Melissa Alala of Seahorses and Aisha Hassan of Mombasa Aquatics that ended up in the two tied on 28 points. Zubeida Mote also of Mombasa Aquatics and Angel Muiruri of Bandari finished third with nine points. Simon Slater of German School Nairobi and Charles Omondi of Little fish topped the boys' 10 to 11 years category with 22 points, while Jaeden Nygel of Sailfish was third with 15.
