Dagoretti lay down the marker as Nairobi games begin

Former national champions Dagoretti School are in a pole position to advance to the knock-out stages after they humiliated Ndururuno Secondary School 9-0 as the Nairobi Region Secondary School Term Two games kicked off Friday at various venues.

Playing at their home ground, Dagoretti coached by former Upper Hill School tactician Joseph Makokha were in a class of their own as they scored goals at will to prove they are well prepared to claim the title they last won in 2017 in Nyeri County.

Ryan Wesley and Tumwa Marcello scored a hattrick each while Dennis Wafula scored a brace before Patrick Kaiser added another for the massive win.

"This is a good start. We want to continue trying to improve after each game. Our participation in the Nairobi Division Two League has been an added advantage to the boys who have been actively involved in competitive football," said Makokha who guided Upper Hill School to the boys national football title triumph in 2017.

"We lost to St Anthony Kitale in 2019 final on penalties but we have set our eyes to win both the national and East Africa region titles this year."

At Lenana School, girls' volleyball defending champions Soweto Girls did not disappoint after they easily dismissed Mathare Mixed Secondary School 3-0 (25-5, 25-5, 25-9) to make a positive start in the games.
