The Ministry of Sports in collaboration with the Ministry of Health are working around the clock to provide guidelines ahead of the FKF Premier League resumption tomorrow.

The development comes barely a day before the rescheduled restart date of the domestic league which had been suspended for the second time on March 26 by the Government alongside other sporting activities due to the surge in Covid-19 infections.

But on May 1, President Uhuru Kenyattta gave the greenlight on the return to action of sports in the country strictly in compliance with the Ministries of Health and Sports guidelines.

And according to Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed, her ministry is treating the resumption of sports as a matter of urgency.

“As directed by the President, we are still in consultation with the Ministry of Health on the sports resumption guidelines. We are working on the protocols very urgently and if everything is ready, we will release the guidelines in the next few hours. And if we release them following those protocols, it will be possible for the league to resume tomorrow (Friday),” Amina told The Standard Sports.

“Everybody has been recalled to the office to ensure we complete the protocols on time. We want to see if it will be possible for the league to resume tomorrow.”

A source at Football Kenya Federation (FKF) had disclosed to The Standard Sports that everything is set for the league's resumption.

"Though we have not yet received the permission from the Ministry of Sports, we are more than ready for the resumption of the league. We have secured Narok, World Hope, Utalii and Ruaraka ground as the venues for the matches within Nairobi and its environs," said the official who sought anonymity.
