Robin van Persie has lifted the lid on how Louis van Gaal slapped him at the World Cup – and then dealt him a knock-out blow at Manchester United.

Van Persie, 36, revealed how he got an angry cuff on the back of the head by his boss when he refused to be substituted during Holland's quarter-final shoot-out victory over Costa Rica in 2014.
