Greg Snow shot a final round 67 to win the final round of the eighth leg of Safari Tour 2019-2020 season at Muthaiga Golf Club, yesterday.

This was his third win after clinching the Nyali Golf and Country and Thika Green Golf Resort legs respectively.

The Johnnie Walker sponsored Snow displayed a brilliant game on the final day to return a 4 under final score, three shots clear the trio of Golf Park’s David Wakhu, Great Rift Valley’s Jastas Madoya and Thika Golf Club’s Simon Ngige.

Wakhu and Ngige returned identical round scores of par, with Madoya returning a score of 2-over par, 73.

The trio finished one stroke ahead of current series leader Dismas Indiza in fifth on 6-over par, 290.

For his efforts, Snow will bank Sh105,000 with the trio in second going home with Sh59,500 each.

Snow had a splendid iron game, in addition, an amazing putting for the round of 18 that saw him pick two birdies, five pars, and two bogeys to turn in a 36 on the ninth.

On the turn, Snow sandwiched birdies on the 10th, 11th, 14th, and the 18th. He parred the 12th, 13th, 15th, 16th, and 17th holes but bogeyed to turn in a superb 31 after the 18th for a final round 67.

“I’m happy I stuck to my game plan,” said Snow. “The course was playing tough throughout this leg due to the rains but still I managed to play some solid golf which felt great.”

“Despite a slow first nine, I had a couple of great shots that I ably converted though my game is not where I’d like it to be. I’ll have to do a lot more work before the next leg,” he added.

Madoya who had posed the stiffest challenge to Snow’s title hunt on the final round had enjoyed a great first nine turning in a 35 on the ninth.

With the win, Snow moves from position three to fourth after eight events. The leg saw a season-high of eight amateur entries, with three of them making the cut.

Nyali Golf Club’s Daniel Nduva edged Mutahi Kibugu to the amateur salver, in a three-hole playoff, after the two finished tied on 11-over par, 295.

Indiza maintains his lead on the Road to the 2020 Magical Kenya Open standings on 330.6 points.

The next leg heads to Sigona Golf Club on January 25-29.
