Athletics: Bor, Nakitar win Imenti road race

Nandi County’s Emmanuel Bor and Embu’s Milliam Nakitar won this year’s South Imenti 15km Road Race yesterday.

Each of them walked away with Sh100, 000 for their respective victories. Second-placed runners earned Sh50, 000, while third-place finishers got Sh25, 000 each.

All top 10 finishers got cash prizes. Bor, who finished second in last year’s event, broke the tape in 48.32, with Lonat Langlet of Nakuru and Alexander Mutiso coming in second and third places.

Bor, who trains in Kapsabet and won a 10km race in Shanghai, China in September, said the hilly course between Kanyuuruko to Nkubu stadium nearly broke him, but he surged on. The race attracted over 700 runners.
