Surely, there’s no stopping for the Kenya Police boxing team.

For the second year in a row, the law enforcers have triumphed in the national Boxing League.

The policemen won the title during the championships at Ofafa Memorial Hall, in Kisumu over the weekend with a total of 29 points.

That was enough for them to lift the overall title with an unassailable 122 points ahead of arch rivals and former champions Kenya Defence Forces, who had 42 points in the overall tally.

For their trouble, Police received the Jamal Trophy, which was presented to their captain, who is also the national heavyweight champion Elly Ajowi.

“Winning and losing is part of the game and we must always accept the verdict of judges. We must also thank the federation for a job well done,” Ajowi told Standard Sports.

KDF’s assistant coach Blackmoses Mathenge hailed his players for finishing runner-up despite having missed the first three legs of the league championships.

“Had we started off with the policemen on an equal footing, I’m definitely sure we could have won the league title or lost by a few points. Next season, we’ll go for the title” Mathenge said in the company of Team Manager Ben Maingi.

Winning teams, boxers, referees and judges and coaches received cash prizes and trophies.
