FKF League playoffs: MCF FC calm ahead with clash with Super Matuga

MCF FC is not leaving anything to chance, but are calm as they prepare for their clash with Matuga FC in the FKF Division Two playoffs on Saturday at Machakos Stadium.

The high stakes playoffs will also see Machakos United square it out with Division Two Zone B winners Shanzu FC for a place in the final.

MCF FC, which topped FKF Division Two Zone A with 75 points, has been on the ascendancy following the financial support by Mully Children’s Family and the arrival of coach Robert Orangi.

“We are relaxed ahead of the playoffs and preparing just like any other day,” said Orangi, formerly an assistant coach of Ushuru FC.

“The boys are doing fine and really composed. We will be going into the playoff as underdogs. I am also happy with the progress so far and if we can maintain the second leg momentum where we won all the matches, then we should be ok come the playoffs,” Orangi told Standard Sports yesterday.

Since joining the FKF County League MCF FC has made strides towards their stated ambition of being the first team from Eastern and North Eastern region to play in the Kenyan Premier League.

The team gained promotion last year to the FKF Division Two after finishing second behind Nunguni Yulu FC in the Southern Branch County League where they played against teams from Machakos, Kitui, Mwingi, Makueni, Kajiado, Isiolo, Meru, and Embu Counties.

MCF FC was restructured in 2017 to become a professional outfit under the umbrella of Mully Children’s Family, a non-profit organization that was founded by philanthropist Dr Charles Mulli.

The Mully Children’s Family also runs a girls’ team and a football aademy for boys and girls in Under 17, Under 13 and Under 10 category.
