Muchiri triumphs in Limuru Vice Chairman’s prize

Miano Muchiri, playing off handicap 19, won the inaugural Limuru Golf & Country club Vice-Chairman (Dr Caroline Wangari Ngugi) prize over the weekend.

Miano shot a sterling round total of 43 stableford points to claim top honours at the meet, which was graced by 180 golfers.

Miano, who is a member of Karen Golf & Country Club, had a great outing on the course, inking a birdie on the par five-third hole including seven pars from the fourth, fifth, ninth, 10th, 13th, 16th and 18th holes.

He had a similar number of bogeys from the first, second, sixth, 12th, 15th and 17th holes. He, however, bogeyed the par-3 seventh, par-4 11th and par-3 14th.

The event was presented by; The Standard Group PLC, Serena Hotels, The Carnivore, Astrol Mint, MarvelGal, Kengen, Kenya Orient, Ketepa and Friend of the Vice-Chairman.

“I am amazed with this victory. Of late, I have been playing good golf. The course was playing well and I thank everyone. It’s gratifying to be the winner of this inaugural event,” said Miano.

The clubs’ vice-captain, Fred Ikana, playing off handicap 14, lived up to his billing as one of the event’s top contenders, by scooping Men winner prize on a solid score of 40 stableford points.

He edged out handicap 7, David Irimu and handicap 28, Samuel Ngaruiya to Men winner second and third respectively on countback on similar scores of 40 stableford points.

Grace Kimeria, playing off handicap 19, won the ladies’ title after posting 37 stableford points.
