A Premier League footballer is set to be questioned by police following accusations he sexually assaulted a woman in a club, according to reports.

The alleged victim, who cannot be named, accused the player of attacking her after "downing drinks and inhaling nitrous oxide" in a London nightclub last month.

According to the Daily Star Sunday, she claimed the individual groped her and filmed it to make another man jealous

The woman alleged that he then stopped filming before carrying out an invasive sex act on her without her consent.

The Daily Star now claims that an investigation has been opened after the alleged incident was reported to the police.

It is reported that the accused player is set to meet officers this week for questioning.

At the time, a friend of the woman stated that she was "traumatised" by the alleged assault.

The woman claimed the footballer invited her and her friends to the VIP area of the nightclub.

She said he was drinking heavily and inhaling nitrous oxide from balloons.

The alleged victim said he plied her with drinks but got angry when she refused his advances.

She claimed he followed her on to the dancefloor, where he then assaulted her.

The woman said: “The more I ignored him the more it seemed to annoy him. He wasn’t happy at all.

“Then he started pulling me towards him. I kept shrugging him off and telling him to stop it.

“I did nothing to encourage his advances but it just seemed to have the opposite effect.”

She said the star came up behind her and put his hand up her dress.

She claimed he later asked her to go home with him and responded 'go f*** yourself' when she declined.
