Police in Miami are probing a mysterious incident allegedly involving retired boxing legend Floyd Mayweather.

Mayweather is said to have been involved in a fight with a jewellery store owner at the Seybold building in the heart of Miami and the reports claim the fight was so heated that police had to be called in.

Although some media outlets in the USA can’t confirm that it was the flamboyant former boxer who was at the scene, a few can actually confirm that it was indeed him who got into the heated exchange.

Reports say that Mayweather was looking at a piece of jewellery, got into an argument, then fled the scene before the Miami cops arrived.

Miami police Department spokesperson Kenia Fallat said that ‘a high profile celebrity’ was involved in the incident that happened on Thursday evening but couldn’t reveal the details.

“At approximately 5:30 p.m. yesterday, a high-profile celebrity was at the Seybold building and got into a dispute with one of the store’s owners, Prior to police arriving, he already left the scene.” Read the police department’s statement.

However, the store owner talked to a local media outlet and described the incident as a ‘misunderstanding’ and that no charges will be filed. He went ahead to describe the former boxer as a ‘very good customer’.
