Conor McGregor congratulated compatriot Becky Lynch on her WrestleMania main event victory - and then dropped the biggest hint yet that a move into WWE could be in the offing.

Lynch emerged victorious in her 'Winner takes All' main clash with Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair, to be named the new Raw and SmackDown Live Women's Champion.

The Irish Lass-Kicker became the first person to pin Rousey since the ex-UFC standout's switch to WWE 14 months ago, in front of over 80,000 fans at MetLife Stadium.

Lynch won both belts after she reversed a 'Piper's Pit' from Rousey, turning it into a roll-up for the win - albeit controversially, with the show ending amid claims from Rousey that her shoulders weren't pinned to the mat.

And certainly it left controversial UFC star McGregor impressed.

He tweeted: "Congrats to Irelands Becky Lynch, the WWE’s first Champ Champ. Wow! What a match these ladies put on! Ronda Rousey is something special in that ring, as is Charlotte Flair of the Flair dynasty!"

But he also didn't stop there, further stating: "Stephanie McMahon you are right, I could not do what these athletes do. Or could I..."

That declaration comes after the daughter of WWE owner Vince McMahon stated on Friday night that she was interested in McGregor making a move into the squared circle.

Amid speculation on the Irishman and ex-New England Patriots superstar Rob Gronkowski - a huge WWE fan - becoming involved with the company, she told TMZ: "Anybody who has a real big personality. I'd love to have Gronk in the ring. Conor McGregor, huge personality," McMahon told us.

"It's really about bringing in the biggest personalities with the best athletic ability."
