Kisumu County Secondary Schools boys’ football champions Kisumu Day are confident of defending their title when the sixth Soccer Giants tournament kicks off at Kisumu Boys High School today.

They defeated Highway Secondary School 1-0 in finals last year and team coach Andrew Aroka said his boys are ready for tough battle. “We are still rebuilding the team and this tourney offers a good platform to test our strengths with the upcoming Term Two games. Our main objective remains that of retaining our title,” Aroka said.

However, Kisumu Day captain Vincent Otieno said they are aware of the threat posed by Maseno School, Barding and Chavakali.

“We are ready for the tournament as we have trained for long. Barding, Maseno and Chavakali are all good teams but we will try our best to win,” he added. Over 20 schools have confirmed participation in the tournament that features football and volleyball.
