Sharks’ run checked as Bandari drown Leopards

Sofapaka end Kariobangi unbeaten streak, AFC lose again.

Resurgent Sofapaka ended Kariobangi Sharks’ unbeaten run after beating their hosts 2-0 in yesterday’s SportPesa Premier League match in Machakos as Bandari bounced back in style to thrash AFC Leopards 4-1 at Mbaraki Sports.

Cliff Kasuti and Umar Kasumba’s goals is all that Batoto Ba Mungu needed to end Sharks’ nine game unbeaten run.

It was a perfect response from Bernard Mwalala’s men after a 4-0 humiliation at Kakamega Homeboyz last week.

Burly striker Wycliffe Ochomo was the hero scoring a brace to help close the gap on league leaders Mathare United to three points (24).

Ochomo opened the floodgates in the 24th minute after latching on  Abdallah Hassan’s delivery.

However, Bandari’s celebrations were cut short six minutes later after Vincent Oburu cancelled out  Ochomo’s opener.

But industrious Ochomo completed his brace on the stroke of halftime after being set up by Hassam again.

Yema Mwama then received an incisive pass from Mike Luvutsi to extend the lead for the hosts on the hour mark.

William Wadri hit the final nail in Leopards’ casket with a brilliant individual goal.

Hassam thought he had got his name on the score sheet late in the game, but his effort was ruled offside.

In Kakamega, Vihiga United rallied to share the spoils with Kakamega Homeboyz in a thrilling 1-1 at Bukhungu Stadium.

Moses Mudavadi gave Kakamega the lead just after five minutes of play, but Rashid Kyambadde’s second half strike secured a point for Mike Mururi’s men.

In Bungoma, Nzoia Sugar laboured to beat Sony Sugar 3-2 in a five goal thriller as Zoo held KCB to a 2-2 draw in Kericho.

It took Sony only three minutes to take the lead through Derrick Otanga’s effort, before Abdallah Wakhungu drew level in the tenth minute.

Nzoia then went ahead five minutes later thanks to  Elvis Ronack solo strike.

Patrick Katasi, however, restored parity moments later only for Stephen Etyang’s brilliant freekick on the stroke of halftime proved to be winner for the hosts.
