Sportpesa Premier League side Posta Rangers have sacked head coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo.

The coach and his assistant George Maina were let go on Monday with the management saying their contracts had expired.

Rangers chairman John Tonui said John Kamau has been appointed as the new head coach and will be assisted by former international Pascal Ochieng.

Others named to a newly reconstituted technical bench include Edward Kauka (trainer) and Joseph Ruto (goalkeeper trainer).

“We opted not to renew the contracts of Omollo and Maina to give us an opportunity to try other people,” said Tonui.

“We have not had a performance which is good enough and given the amount of investment we put in the club, we felt we should be getting more from the team.”

Rangers barely survived relegation last season and have won just one match since the season started last month.

Tonui also defended the return of Kamau who was sacked from the club two years ago after a section of experienced players revolted against the former Thika United boss.
