Kenya Cup debutants Menengai Oilers hope to turn around their fortunes when the 2018-19 season resume next month.

In its first season in the top flight, the Nakuru based club has only managed a single win in five outings, failing to replicate last season's heroics which saw them claim silver in the second tier, the Kenya Rugby Union Championship.

"Iam very happy with the open play and defence. We just need to work on the line-outs and experience will come.Time is not on our side and we cannot keep on losing. We have to turn things around fast but Iam sure the results are around the corner," head coach Gibson Weru told The Standard Sports.

Weru's side currently occupies tenth spot on the standings, one point above the relegation zone and the tactician is optimistic that they will survive the axe.

"From what I have seen in the first five games,Iam not worried. We are competing against teams that have been in the top tier for quite a long time and I believe the boys are on the right track," he said.

With the mid-season transfer window set to open in a few weeks,Oilers are not keen on roping in new faces to strengthen their squad.

"I think we are good to go;I am not sure if we really need any new acquisitions and it will be a plus for us if that happens," said Weru.
