Rugby: Homeboyz coach lauds charges after triumph

After leading his side to a second national Sevens Series title in two years, Homeboyz head coach Paul Murunga acknowledged that winning the first three legs played a pivotal role in their success.

Prior to last weekend's triumph at the final leg of the series, Christie Sevens, the Deejays had won the Prinsloo, Sepetuka and Kabeberi tournaments.

They also finished fourth in the Driftwood Sevens before losing in Dala Sevens final.

A 24-19 victory over hosts Kenya Harlequins in a dramatic final on Sunday earned them their maiden Christie Sevens title that took their points for the entire season to 122, 20 more than Mwamba in second spot.

"We are happy today. The boys have really worked hard and I think winning the first three tournaments made the difference. As a club we had not yet won the Christie Sevens and the boys were hungry for success," Murunga said after the Christie Sevens win.
