Anthony Martial has told Manchester United board that he wants to remain in England and play for another Premier League club, according to reports.
The French international has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford in recent months after he fell out of favour under Jose Mourinho last season.
Few weeks ago, Martial’s agent Philippe Lamboley suggested that the 22-year-old wants to quit Manchester United before the end of the summer transfer window.
‘After thinking about all the factors and possibilities, Anthony wants to leave Manchester United. There are lots of factors, and right now it’s too early to talk about them,’ said Lamboley.
‘Manchester United want Anthony to extend his deal and do not want him to leave but we have not reached an agreement for several months,’ he added.
United’s Chief Executive Ed Woodward is not willing to let Martial leave at the moment and wants the club to extend the star’s contact for another year to avoid him leaving on a free transfer next summer.
The former Monaco forward has been linked with a move to top Premier League clubs like Chelsea and Tottenham and reports claim that Chelsea are already preparing a deal to sign Martial as a replacement for Eden Hazard, who is linked with a move to Real Madrid.
According to The Sun, Jose Mourinho, however, is ready to sell Martial to Chelsea on a condition that the Blues will add Willian to the deal.
