Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho sent a strong message to Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial concerning their roles at the club ahead of Sunday’s clash with West Brom.

According to reports, lack of playing time is frustrating Martial and he is looking for a move away from Old Trafford.

Rashford was also reported to be seeking a move away from the club if Mourinho will be the manager next season.

Since the arrival of Sanchez from Arsenal, Martial has found himself sidelined while Rashford has only managed five starts in the last 16 games for United.

As the situation is at United and most importantly after Sanchez’s stellar performance in the derby win against City last week, Martial and Rashford might find themselves in the bench again in United’s next fixtures.

However, Mourinho says the duo are part of his system but cannot guarantee playing time to either of them.

Speaking to MUTV, Mourinho said, ‘It’s just football, we cannot have 11 players, it would be amazing economically for the football clubs to have only 11 and play with the same 11, no injuries, suspension, fatigue.

‘It would be better for everyone to have only 11 but is not impossible.

‘At every club and every level, you need more than 11 players and only 11 can start, is as simple as that, there’s nothing I can do.

‘Only 11 can start. The same questions you are doing to me, you should do to every other manager because everyone has players in the same situation.’

Mourinho also confirmed that Rashford is the only player who have made the most appearance since the Portuguese manager arrived at the club.

Rashford has made 97 of Mourinho’s 112 games but the England star is concerned with his position in England’s World Cup squad and feels he should play even more to secure a solid spot in Southgate’s line up.

The Red Devils are set to host bottom side West Brom at Old Trafford on Sunday before travelling to Bournemouth. These matches could be the best opportunity for Mourinho to give United’s fringe players some game time.
