"We come through this together. United," he said.

The Argentina players, according to a source, responded positively to Messi’s talk saying: "What Leo did? No, really good, really good. Honestly, we needed it."

Messi’s importance and influence on the Argentina team was noticed by Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa who said that the 30-year-old makes a lot of differences while in the field.

"You can see that when Messi is not around it's something else," said Costa.

"To have Messi on the pitch changes many things. You can see that when he is not on the pitch, they are missing their leader.

"Argentinians know that Messi is Messi. I hear that people criticize him, but Messi deserves preferential treatment because he is the best.

"A player like Messi cannot be criticized. You have to give thanks to god that he exists." He added.
