Alexis Sanchez moved to Manchester United in s swap deal that saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan move to Arsenal in the winter transfer window.
His move to United made him the first Chilean player in football history to play for Manchester United. He is earning a £23million per-year and a £350,000 a week plus bonuses.
The Chilean forward has opened up about his controversial departure from Arsenal, revealing that Wenger tried to convince him to snub United by telling him’ ‘You’re the best we’ve got.’
He has since struggled to find his best form at Old Trafford and has revealed the extent Arsenal Boss Wenger went to try to stop him from joining the Red Devils.
“He was very fond of me and he didn't want to let me go," Sanchez told Chilean television.
"He told me, 'I want you to sign here because you are the best player in the team.'
"I wanted to continue growing as a player, more so as a Chilean, because it’s difficult to get to Manchester United.
"No Chilean had played here. Arsene understood it at last, we ended up on good terms, he congratulated me and there was no problem."
The former Arsenal star has also hinted that United will not be his last club as he wishes to fulfill the dream of his adoptive dad Jose Delaigue which is to play for Chile’s Universidad de Chile, who have won the national league title 18 times.
