Manchester United star 'wants showdown talks' with Jose Mourinho

Victor Lindelof is said to be growing impatient at Manchester United as the £31million signing continues his struggle to crack Jose Mourinho's first-choice line-up.

The Swede reportedly wants to sit down with his boss to speak about his future at the club having been sidelined for major fixtures since his last Premier League start on New Year's Day.

The talent and potential of Lindelof is not in question and, at 23-years-old, the defender still has plenty of time to make his mark at Old Trafford.

But even with United's centre-halves under fire, especially the pairing of Chris Smalling and Phil Jones, Lindelof is finding it hard to understand why he's not played a more significant role.

And although Lindelof is likely to get a chance to impress in the Champions League tonight against Sevilla, he wants assurances that he's in Mourinho's plans long-term.

"His camp is a bit bemused why he hasn’t been playing more," The Sun quotes an Old Trafford source as saying.

Lindelof has started just seven of his 21 appearances for United, the last being in that January 1 win over Everton.

However, he has played the full 90 minutes in the Red Devils' last three FA Cup outings, though, with clean sheets in all matches against Derby, Yeovil and Huddersfield.

“Everyone knows about the early struggles but he has come on a lot since then and has worked really hard," the source continues.

“Victor is a really strong trainer. He does not want to rock the boat at the club, he just wants reassurances.”
