Man United 'ignored' Giggs advice to sign classy strikers now at PSG and Man City

Ryan Giggs told Manchester United to sign Gabriel Jesus and Kylian Mbappe on the cheap - but they ignored his advice.

Giggs was No.2 to former boss Louis van Gaal between 2014 and 2016 after he had a brief stint as caretaker boss when Sir Alex Ferguson's successor David Moyes was sacked.

And the Class of '92 Old Trafford legend has revealed that he was watching Brazilian ace Jesus as early as three years ago - long before his £27million move from Palmeiras was agreed by Manchester City last year.

The 44-year-old, United's most successful player of all-time, claims he was personally scouting 19-year-old French phenom Mbappe for over a year when the young forward was at Monaco.

Now Mbappe is set to cost PSG a staggering £160million when he turns his loan move into a permanent switch next summer.

Giggs believes a lack of clear vision since Ferguson's retirement in 2013 has cost United as he took a swipe at their recruitment policy.

"I watched Gabriel Jesus play three years ago," said Giggs speaking to The Times chief football correspondent, Oliver Kay.

"I watched Mbappe for a year. I was watching them with the chief scout and it was a no-brainer. It was just like, 'Get them'.

"It would have cost £5million or something - get them, loan them back - and that's where the recruitment could have been better.

"I know what a Manchester United player looks like."
