Football banning orders for 2017 revealed
Newcastle United fans have topped the list of banning orders in England and Wales for the third consecutive year.
As of August 7, the club - on its return to the Premier League - had 111 banning orders against supporters, a slight decrease from 124 last year, and 132 in the 2014/15 season.
Newcastle were followed by Championship club Wolverhampton Wanderers with 75.
The number of football-related arrests decreased overall to 1,638 in 2016/17, down 257 (14%) compared with the previous year.
Championship club Birmingham City had the highest number of fans arrested last season at 72, followed by Premier League outfit West Ham United with 67.
The numbers showed a sixth consecutive drop in overall banning orders, from 2,085 in 2015/16 to 1,929 last year.
The figures mark a considerable drop (39%) from 3,174 in 2010/11.
Championship fans accounted for the highest proportion of banning orders, with 620 in force in the 2016/17 season (32%), followed by Premier League fans with 507 (26%).
All divisions saw a decrease in the number of football-related arrests, from 431 in the Premier League in 2015/16 to 389 last year.
