Phil Jones is set to sign a mega new Manchester United deal worth £150,000 a week, according to reports.

If he puts pen to paper on the new contract - as if expected - then he will become one of the Premier League's highest-paid defenders.

Reports indicate that the wage will put him in the same bracket as Chelsea's David Luiz and Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany.

United have conceded just two goals so far this season, the fewest in the Premier League, and part of that is down to 25-year-old Jones.

His pairing with Cameroonian Eric Bailly has been most effective and helped United to second in the table following a barren draw against Liverpool.
