Former Kangemi United chairman Simon Mugo, whose team the fallen Sammy Taabu coached for seven years and helped qualify to the Kenyan Premier League, has paid tribute to the star midfielder in the 80s as a simple man who lived by his muslim ideals.
“He was devoted not only to his work but religion. our coach, he would even spend his money on the team all because he loved the game. I am shattered beyond words at his passing,” Mugo said.
Preliminary postmortem showed Taabu suffered a massive heart attack on Friday night. [Robin Toskin]
