A trip down memory lane: The Reds take on Real Madrid

Robbie Fowler, Luis Figo and Steve McManaman are among the stars that will line up for the star-studded event at Anfield

Football fans at Anfield on Saturday will be taking a trip down memory lane as the Liverpool ground plays host to a plethora of household names as the Reds take on Real Madrid in an unmissable legends match.

Steven Gerrard is set to return to Anfield in what will be his first appearance there since his retirement, and he will line up alongside a number of Liverpool greats.

Jamie Carragher, John Arne Riise, Ian Rush, Gary McAllister and Patrik Berger are all set to play for the Reds legends side who will be captained by Robbie Fowler.

And Real Madrid certainly won't be coming along just to make up the numbers, with the likes of Luis Figo, Roberto Carlos and Emilio Butrageno set to do battle with the home side.

Here's how all you know...

What time is kickoff?

The match kicks off at the traditional UK time of 3pm.

That's 4pm for all you Real Madrid fans tuning in from Spain.

Where can I watch it?

The match is being shown live on LFCTV (Sky channel 429 or 544 on Virgin), as well as the club's Facebook, Twitter and YouTube platforms simultaneously.

The game will also be streamed live on www.liverpoolfc.com/video .

Who can I expect to see?

to name a few!

Steve McManaman and Jerzy Dudek both had the pleasure of representing both sides during their careers. Both will be at the match and could be involved for either side.

What happened last time?

There's plenty of history between the two clubs, with both meeting in the 1981 European Cup Final where Liverpool edged a 1-0 win.

The last time the actual sides met was during the group stages of the Champions League in the 2014/15 season.

Real Madrid won both group matches, including a 3-0 victory at Anfield against a Liverpool side that contained Steven Gerrard.

Perhaps that result was payback for the previous Anfield encounter where Gerrard scored two in a 4-0 thrashing by the home side.

A memorable occasion

The game is set to be a special and more poignant occasion following the news this week that Liverpool legend Ronnie Moran passed away at the age of 83.

Moran was a key member of the fabled Liverpool Boot Room , and held a number of positions at the club over a period of 49 years, from player and captain to coach, physio, caretaker manager and more in between.

The Liverpool players and coaching staff held a minutes silence in his memory prior to training on Wednesday, and Saturdays match will be a great opportunity to celebrate the life of a true Reds hero.
