NEW DAWN FOR AFRICA: CAF hopes for good tidings as Ahmad beats Hayatou in polls, FKF promises to work with new boss

African football hopes to scale new heights after the election of Ahmad Ahmad as the new boss of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The Madagascar FA President had the backing of world football governing body boss Gianni Infantino ahead of yesterday’s elections and that means CAF will always have the support of Fifa in all its endeavours.

Outgoing CAF boss Issa Hayatou has not been in good books with Infantino and his loss yesterday will surely be good news to the continent.

The promises by Ahmad must have gone a long way in swaying the votes in his favour.

He first of all promised that no FA boss will ever travel economy class to various CAF meetings or tournaments.

Apart from the promise of business class travel, Ahmad further promised another Sh500million per year to be shared among the 54 member federations and another Sh5million and Sh3million each per year for youth tournaments and cost of match officials.

He added another sweetener of Sh2million per year.
