Swimmers set new more records

High level of competition was witnessed after 15 Kenya national swimming records were broken at the Coast Open and Age Group swimming championship at the Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa.

Youthful swimmer Muhammad Bilal Khandwalla of Bandari Swim Club smashed six national records as Emily Muteti of Mombasa Aquatics and Danilo Rosafio of Mombasa Academy entered their names in the record books.

Khandwalla broke two records (14-15yrs and junior record) in the 100m backstroke in a new time of 1.01.25 erasing his own record set on October 29 last year.

His old record stood at 1.01.76. The swimmer went ahead to break two more records in (14-15yrs and Junior record) in the 50m backstroke in a new time of 28.43 breaking his own old record of 28.56

The sensational swimmer went further to break two records in (14-15yrs and Junior record) in the 200m backstroke in a new time of 2.14.41 breaking the old record of 2.15.62 held by Akshay Milan Shah set on January 20, 2007 in United Kingdom.

Emily Muteti of Mombasa Aquatic broke the All-comers 400m Individual Medley (IM) in a new time of 5.05.90 breaking her own record set on October 14 last year of 5.10.90.

She also broke her own record in the 50m fly of 28.39 to set a new time of 28.09. In 200m breastroke All Comers, Emily shattered the previous record of 2.53.24 of Ambaar Michaelo to set a new time of 2.14.16.
