Ulinzi Stars coach Robert Matano has said the country’s football calendar might affect their performance in next year’s Caf Confederation Cup.

The soldiers have been drawn against Libyan side Hilal Benghazi in their opening match of the competition. “We always have the disadvantage of playing our opponents at a time when their leagues are on.

We will just be coming from our pre-season,” he said. Matano returned to the club two weeks ago, after a three-month absence due to illness.

He, however, said the soldiers will do their best in the competition.

“What matters is how well we prepare for the match. As long as we prepare well, there is a big chance of us doing well and that is exactly what we intend to do. We have started light training because the players are from a long break.
