United will "fight to the end", says Van Gaal

Manchester United Manager Louis van Gaal has insisted that Manchester United will “fight to the end” to snatch a Champions League place on the last day of the season.

The Reds have a tough way to go against Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Sunday and pray that Swansea beat Manchester City for them to snatch fourth spot from their local rivals.

Although City better placed to secure the Champions League at United’s expense, Van Gaal said he and his players have not given up hope.

“We are dependent on Manchester City, that’s the difference, and that’s also frustrating when we had the chance, two matches before the end, to keep that advantage,” said Van Gaal a press conference this evening.

“We were 2-1 ahead at West Ham with 15 minutes to play, then we gave it away, but still it is possible, so we fight to the end.”

Manchester have a tough way to go considering that Adnan Januzaj, Ashley Young and Matteo Darmian  are out, but the last two could be back for the FA Cup final.

“Unfortunately Januzaj has been injured in the training session, so he is out for Sunday,” he said.

“We have to wait and see for the final. The rest is like it was.

“Darmian is still out but can be in. It is dependable on the progress. Schweinsteiger is out and Shaw is out.

“Ashley Young is coming in, so he is restored of his injury and can train tomorrow with our squad. But it is one training session.”
