Arsenal and Manchester United became the biggest winners in the Barclays Premier League matches played on Saturday.
Gervinho scored two goals when Arsenal thrashed Southampton 6-1 in a game played at the Emirates.
Other Gunners goals came from Lukas Podolski, Theo Walcott and two own goals from Southampton duo of Nathaniel Clyne and Joos Hooiveld.
Wigan survived an early scare when Javier Hernandez missed a penalty awarded to Manchester United. The game ended at 0-0 at half time but the Red Devils pounced back in the second half and defeated Wigan by 4-0. Veteran Paul Scholes who scored twice while Javier Hernandez, and Alex Buttner added one each.
Stoke City became the first to score when Peter Crouch netted a goal in the 15th minute. Later, Manchester City new signing Javi Garcia equalized for Manchester City. The match ended a 1-1.
In other matches, Dimitar Berbatov secured 2 goals for Fulham and Steve Sidwell added a third goal making a 3-0 win over West Brom. SC Villa wiped Swansea 2-0 and Queens Park Rangers drew 0-0 against Chelsea 0-0.
