Disputes over the rights to water and land are at the heart of the complex conservation problems facing the tana river delta. The importance of the area is widely recognized, but as ktn’s shem oluchiri reports in the first part of an eco-journal series, there has been little agreement on the steps to take to conserve the wetland.
