KCB pile pressure on Kabras Sugar

With only two legs of the National Sevens Circuit left, the race for the title remains between the top four teams.

However leaders Kabras Sugar and KCB are still in a pole position to lift the title.

Only two points separate the two top teams after KCB won the Christie Sevens title at RFUEA Grounds over the weekend.

KCB defeated Strathmore Leos 17-12 to clinch the trophy last weekend.

Despite the win, leaders Kabras Sugar are still at the top with a total of 80 points ahead of KCB in second position with 78 points with only Tisap Sevens and Kabeberi Sevens set for Eldoret and Nairobi on September 2-3 and September 9-10 respectively left before the conclusion of the series.

KCB coach Andrew Amonde said he is keen not to make silly mistakes in the last two legs as their urge is to win the title.

Asked how they did it to win it after they finished as play-off winners at Prinsloo Sevens, Amonde said: “We brought in three energetic and fresh players who changed the whole concept of our play."

They were winger Gabriel Omsasi, and forwards Eugene Omondi and Elphas Otieno.

Amonde said he will approach the remaining legs with caution.

The bankers’ win shocked Kabras who had earlier vowed to win Christie 7s to make them strong contenders for the overall title.
