Nakuru RFC are ready to win a home tournament, Prinsloo Sevens, for the first time in seven years this weekend.

Head coach Simon Wariuki feels the team will be motivated to lift more titles next season if they win the fifth leg of the 2022 National Sevens Circuit.

“We are taking the tournament seriously and it is our urge and pleasure to win it, which will go a long way to boost morale of the young boys who are virtually improving by every match played before the kick-off next season,” Wariuki told Standard Sports.

Nakuru RFC won the last Prinsloo title in 2015 and the tournament director Eddy Moseti said they are set to go as preparations for the three-day competition have been finalised.

Moseti said they have put their acts together to ensure the safety of all teams and fans who will attend the event.

“All rugby fans are welcome as we have beefed up security for the safety of all players, teams and fans who should attend the event for the three days as we are set and ready to go,” said Moseti.

Nakuru RFC are in Group B with Dala Sevens losing finalists Menengai Oilers, Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology and Kisumu RFC.

A total of 40 teams have been entered in the competition that commence this morning with the Age Grade Championships before the tournament proper tomorrow and Sunday in the Division One and Two Championships.

And Wariuki promised to reign supreme against their archrivals Oilers after the two teams settled for a five-all draw at the Driftwood Sevens in Mombasa a few weeks ago.
