Kabras, Quins set for Sisimka Charity Cup

Kabras Sugar and Kenya Harlequin will clash in the inaugural Sisimka Charity Cup on Saturday.

Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) said Quins will replace defending Kenya Cup champions in the tie.

Kabras were to renew their long time rivalry against KCB but the latter withdrew from the clash.

The weekend’s clash will be staged at Nyayo Stadium and it is scheduled to kick off at 3pm.

“The Kenya Harlequins and Kabras will face off in the first top-flight encounter of the season after an eleven-month hiatus in a match dubbed “Sisimka Charity Cup” The match will kick off at 3:30 pm at the Nyayo Stadium,” reads the statement by KRU.

The match will not be open to fans as per the COVID-19 protocol. Part of the proceeds from the clash will be used to support talented girls who play rugby.

“Please note that the Covid-19 protocols provided by Ministry of Health, World Rugby will be adhered to. No fans will be allowed into the venue.”

Quins and Kabras Sugar have been in training for the last few months ahead of Kenya Cup return on Feb 27.

Kabras kick-off the new season against MMUST on Saturday, Feb 27while Quins will be away to Impala.

KRU said further details concerning the game will be provided in the next two days as rugby makes a return after an 11-month hiatus.

The teams will be using the clash to test their squad ahead of the new season. Both sides have new coaches who will be stepping on the touchline for the first time since their appointment,

The match will usher in the new season which will commence on Saturday 27 with six matches line-up.
