11 theft suspects arrested in Eldoret raid, over 150 phones recovered

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested 11 people suspected to be involved in robbery and theft in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.

According to DCI, the detectives raided a building within Eldoret town on Tuesday, where a number of assorted electronics among other items were recovered.

“Detectives raided Petresha building within Eldoret Township where several electronic repair shops believed to be confiscating stolen items were searched and assorted electronics without prerequisite ownership receipts recovered,” DCI said in a statement.

Among the items recovered include 156 mobile phones, 45 television sets, 41 laptops, 25 gas cylinders, eight refrigerators, five woofers, and one Canon camera.

The eleven include two women and nine men.

They are currently held at the Eldoret Police Station as investigations continue.

The recovered items are still in custody pending identification by their legitimate owners.
