Baringo county official charged for allegedly stealing man's bedding

Baringo County government's finance Chief Officer Jane Barus has been charged with breaking into a house in Rongai, Nakuru County, and stealing household goods.

Besides the household goods, Ms Barus is also said to have stolen was a title deed. The county officer was arrested on June 24 by officers from Menengai Police Station and appeared before court on Tuesday where she denied the charges.

Released on bond

She was charged that on June 16 this year, at Ravine Junction in Rongai sub-county within Nakuru County, she allegedly broke into the house of Nixon Kibiwott Chumo and stole beddings and assorted items. The items included clothes, gas cooker and utensils all valued at Sh100, 000.

Nakuru Principal Magistrate Faith Munyi released her on a Sh50,000 bond with an alternative cash bail of Sh30, 000.

The court directed that the matter be mentioned on July 13 and that she be supplied with copies of witness statements and any other documents the prosecution intends to rely on in the case.
