Burial of murdered teenager stopped

The burial of a teenager allegedly murdered by his parents and sisters in Naivasha last week was stopped in the last minute as police sought more time to conduct their investigations.

Mourners who had gathered at the family home in Kinungi, Naivasha had to disperse after learning that the burial of Peter Njenga would not continue as planned.

At the mortuary, a casket bought by family members had to be ferried to an unknown place as the couple and their daughter were whisked to Naivasha GK prison after been charged with murder.

The mutilated body of the teenager was discovered last week locked in his room a few meters from the parent’s house.

A day later, police moved in and arrested the parents and the deceased’ sister over the murder, before recovering their bloody clothes and the murder weapon dumped in a latrine.

According to a community leader, James Kabono, the deceased was involved in manual jobs around the town.

He told of their shock after the burial was postponed adding that they were waiting for fresh directives from the police before proceeding with the burial. “The body was found in his room lying on the floor with the hands tied behind his back and the burial has been suspended as police continue with their investigations,” he said.

According to Naivasha OCPD Samuel Waweru, the arrest of the three followed the recovery of the murder weapons and bloody clothes within their compound.

Waweru said that also recovered from the latrine were some clothes belonging to the suspects and which had blood on them.

“The family members gave contradicting information over the death and on further investigations,” he said.

He said that the three had already been charged with murder and remanded at Naivasha GK prison as police conducted more investigations.
