Two forced into self-quarantine in Bomet

Two people who recently jetted into the country have been forced to self-quarantine by security in Bomet County.

The two who arrived from Germany and South Africa were tracked down in Chepalungu and forced into quarantine.

Bomet County Commissioner Geoffrey Omonding said members of the public raised an alarm over their presence.

Omonding said after security confirmed that they recently arrived in the country, they were ordered to stay home for 14 days.

“We are monitoring them very closely. They defied the directive to self-quarantine and we caught up with them and they are now under surveillance,” said Omonding

Addressing the press, Omonding said the two are among nine suspected cases that have been reported in the county since the outbreak of the coronavirus.

Omonding said it was sad that the two had mingled with the public for days and would be tragic if they test positive.

“One of them attended a funeral and a fundraising where he mingled with locals,” Omonding said, adding legal action will be taken against the two.
