Gideon mourns murdered former MCA

Kanu chairman Gideon Moi (pictured) sent his condolences to the family of former Kapyego Ward Rep Benson Kiptire who was found murdered and his body dumped in West Pokot County.

Mr Kiptire was a Kanu MCA who also served as the Elgeyo Marakwet County Assembly minority leader.

The slain former MCA was allegedly picked on Friday at his shop in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, by people who introduced themselves as Directorate of Criminal Investigations officers before his body was discovered in Kamatira Forest, West Pokot.

Gideon, who described Kiptire as a personal friend, said he was utterly shocked by the gruesome murder.

“On behalf of Kanu party, my family and my own self, I wish to convey a message of condolence to the family of our friend Kiptire,” Gideon said in the message sent to newsrooms.

He said Kiptire will be remembered for his relentless efforts to broker peace in banditry-prone areas of his Elgeyo Marakwet and West Pokot, among other troubled areas in the Kerio Valley triangle.

Kiptire’s body was found with a bullet wound on the head by passers-by on Saturday afternoon.
