Jilted AP officer who committed suicide was dating a minor

It has emerged that the jilted Administration Police officer who shot himself dead in Naivasha over a love-gone-sour incident was dating an underage girl who sat for her KCSE last year.

This came as medics from Naivasha sub-county hospital said that the 17-year-old girl who was shot three times on the legs was in stable condition and undergoing treatment.

The officer identified as Gideon Imanman from Turkana County joined the forces last year after over one-year training in Kiganjo Police College in Nyeri County.

On Saturday night, the officer aged 23-years fired at the teenager 19 times in a Mpesa shop where she was working hitting her three times.

During the incident at Moi Ndabi trading center, the bullets hit three gas cylinders in the shop but miraculously they did not explode.

According to a local leader Japheth Mwaura, the teenager was very lucky to be alive following the hail of bullets that only managed to hit her lower legs and graze her hip.

Mwaura said that the girl sat for secondary exams last year and was temporarily employed in the Mpesa shop as she sought her ID ahead of joining college.

On that day, the officer suspected that the girl was entertaining another AP officer and raided the shop, witness said.

“The officer who was drunk ordered the girl and the officer inside the house to either open the door, or he shoots them,” he said.

Mwaura added that the officer went head to fire at the shop hitting the teenager three times before fleeing back to the Chief’s camp where he shot himself dead.

“The girl was alone then and the officer thought that he had killed her before proceeding to their camp where he shot himself on the head,” he said.

Naivasha OCPD Samuel Waweru confirmed the incident adding that the girl was in stable condition and would be released from hospital anytime.

He termed the deceased as an evil and said that he would have committed more harm based on his latest action.

“He officially joined the forces last year after undergoing training and his move to open fire nineteen times shows that he was a man who had uncontrolled temper and could have done more harm to the community,” said the officer.

The senior police officer added that an inquest file had been opened as part of their investigations adding that the next of kin had also been informed.
