Tallest building outside Nairobi almost complete

Works on the tallest building outside Nairobi that started in April 2014 will be completed before the end of the year. The 28-storyed building is owned by Moi University Pension Scheme.

According to a status report seen by The Standard, the contractor is working on the last floor, that will carry the communication mast. Installation of passenger lift components that were delivered last March will be completed by November this year.

"The main contractor has done a commendable job of delivering at least three floors every month. In a span of 15 Months, he has been able to construct 30 storeys with a quality workmanship and adherence to specifications," read part of the report.

The complex has three lower basement levels.

Twin tower

The report also noted that the Mechanical Ventilation and Air Conditioning works are 70 per cent complete, while the Fire fighting Sprinkler system infrastructure is 35 per cent complete.

The Twin Tower Office development will comprise three lower basement that will provide parking for 230 vehicles. Another two Lower Podium parking floors will take in over 100 vehicles.

A penthouse will be on 25th floor, and will include a machine room. Communications mast will be in 26th and 27th floors respectively.

The last floor will hold the transformer, switch, generator rooms and guard house.
