Kajiado, Kenya: ODM Director of Elections Junet Mohammed has called on the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to investigate allegations of voter bribery in the ongoing Kajiado Central by-election.

Accompanied by other ODM MPs, Junet claimed that Jubilee Alliance Party was using under hand tactics to win the election. Among the stations where malpractice was reported is Kajiado Town.

JAP, however refuted the claims terming the claims as the last kicks of a dying horse.

The parliamentary seat is being contested by ODM’s Memusi Kanchori, JAP’s Patrick Tutui and Independent candidate Kuntai Nkashuma.

Earlier in the day, an ODM delegation led by Homa Bay Woman Respresentative Gladys Wanga arrived at Eng’alibo Primary School polling station where a mix up of the voter register had been reported.

As a result of the hitch, some voters were turned away as their names could not be traced. Others who had not registered as voters also turned up to vote but were forced to go back.

Voting in all polling stations is expected to end by 5pm and tallying to begin.  Maasai Technical Training Institute is the tallying centre.
