Nakuru Industrial Court orders bank to pay former employee

The Nakuru Industrial court has ordered Family Bank to pay former employee Peter Mwarania Sh2.2 million, after he sued the bank demanding damages for wrongful dismissal.

Justice Stephen Radido on Friday issued orders for Mr Mwarania, who used to be the bank’s Nakuru branch manager, to be paid as his employment was unlawfully terminated.

“The court orders the bank to pay the claimant a total of Sh2.2 million,” ruled Radido.

In his suit filed on October 2011, Mr Mwarania claimed he was denied a fair hearing following allegations of gross misconduct.

In its defence, the bank said he was given notice of the impending termination of his employment following his involvement in underhand deals with a learning institution.
