Declare wealth, Karua tells rivals

Trans-Nzoia, Kenya: Narc-Kenya presidential candidate Martha Karua has challenged her competitors to disclose the source of their wealth.

Ms Karua noted that some of them had acquired richness through dubious means.

“My opponents should come clean on how they acquired their massive wealth. Some of them have no record to show where they worked to accumulate the huge wealth,” she said.

Karua warned Kenyans against being compromised by the ill-gotten money to elect corrupt leaders.

“I don’t stop you from eating the money given to you by my opponents, but make a wise decision after taking the money,” said Karua, who pitched tent in North Rift at the weekend.

Karua was accompanied by her running mate Augustine Lotodo. She attended a church service at St Joseph Anglican Church of Kenya in Kiminini, Trans-Nzoia County on Sunday.

Karua, who was in the region for the third day, asked the church to back her candidature and promised to prove her ability of transforming the economy for prosperity.

“Our agenda is based on issues and not empty rhetoric. I’m here to ask for your vote because I have the best to offer Kenyans,” said Karua.

Women, she observed, have not been tested with power and assured that if elected president, she will bring radical change for the benefit of the people. She claimed that men leadership has not offered much and challenged Kenyans to back her bid to prove her.

“Let Kenyans give women a chance to prove their ability since male leaders have failed to meet wishes of Kenyans,” she said.

Streamline services

Karua said anticipation of Kenyans to have a decent life has been frustrated by failed leadership and high corruption in Government.

“Women, unlike men, are not corrupt. I urge you to trust me with the leadership of this country and you will see the tremendous changes,” she pledged.

She said women have been isolated in leadership despite having qualities, which will help the country to tackle economic woes.

Kenyans, she observed, are unable to get effective services due to corruption and assured people that her government will streamline services and ensure there is no corruption.
